T.M. Franklin started out her career writing non-fiction in a television newsroom. Graduating with a B.A. in Communications specializing in broadcast journalism and production, she worked for nine years as a major market television news producer, and garnered two regional Emmy Awards, before she resigned to be a full-time mom and part-time freelance writer. Her first published novel, MORE, was born during National Novel Writing month, a challenge to write a novel in thirty days. MORE was well-received, being selected as a finalist in the 2013 Kindle Book Review Best Indie Book Awards, as well as winning the Suspense/Thriller division of the Blogger Book Fair Reader’s Choice Awards.
In addition to MORE and its sequel, The Guardians, Franklin penned the Amazon best-selling short stories A Piece of Cake and Window, which also won a Blogger Book Fair Reader’s Choice Award for Short Story/Fantasy. Her new YA romance, How to Get Ainsley Bishop to Fall in Love with You, is Franklin’s first love story without a paranormal or fantasy element, although she believes love is the best kind of magic.
TWELVE, the final installment in the MORE Trilogy will be released in the fall of 2014.

Top Ten Tuesday ~ Books You Would Like To See On The Big Screen

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly event hosted by

This weeks topic was a free week!
So we decided our topic would be:

Books You Would Like To See On The Big Screen
(Thank you to Nikki Godwin for the fantastic suggestion)

10 - My Life Next Door
by Huntley Fitzptrick

My Life Next Door (My Life Next Door, #1)

Thirteen year old Toucan and I have mad love for this book.  The characters in this book are so amazing.  We both agree it would make a great movie.

9 - What A Boy Wants
by Nyrae Dawn
What a Boy Wants (What a Boy Wants, #1)

This book is one that would make a great teen comedy.  I would LOVE to see it as a movie and Banana and Toucan both agree with me.

8 - Summer on the Short Bus
by Bethany Crandall

This book was a whole lot of fun!  I loved the characters and I think it would be great fun as a movie.  Please hurry and make it though as we would love to see Zac Efron as Quinn!

7 - Crash Into You
by Katie McGarry

This is my favorite of Katie's books and I would love to see it take place on the big screen.  The Car Racing alone would be worth the price of admission!

6 - The Star Thief
by Jamie Grey

The Star Thief (Star Thief Chronicles, #1)

This book was one I found very visual.  Jamie is a very talented author that makes you fell like you are there with the characters and allows you to see what you are reading.  I love sci-fi movies and think this book would be a visual treat!

5 - Jordyn & Jordyn and the Caverns of Gloom
by Tiffany King

Jordyn and the Caverns of GloomJordyn (A Daemon Hunter, #1)

This series is amazing and has some majorly cool fight scenes in it.  I would love to see Jordyn and Emrys fighting Daemons on the big screen!

4 - My Super Sweet 16th Century
by Rachel Harris

My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century (My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century, #1)

This book is adorable and one I can see as a great movie.  It has time travel, fantastic characters and I can't help but think the cover would double as a great movie poster.

3 - The Infernal Devices Series
by Cassandra Clare

This series has the potential to translate into an epic trilogy of movies.  Let's hope if it ever happens it will fall into great hands in Hollywood.

2 - Fablehaven
by Brandon Mull
This fantasy series is high adventure and full of fantastic characters and creatures.  The writing is so fantastic I have great pictures in my mind of what it would look like and this would definitely make a great movie series.

1 - Tiger's Curse
by Colleen Houck
Who wouldn't want to see their favorite book series ever up on the big screen?  This is my favorite book series and I hope one day it will make it to Hollywood.

That's it for me today.  I can't wait to see what topics everyone else has picked so leave me your links so I can check out your posts!

Memory Lane Monday #9 ~ Wishing For Someday Soon Memory Post

Memory Lane Monday is a feature that is hosted by
Amber at Paradise of Pages
and

Amber and I have been talking about wanting to re-read some of our favorite books and how we feel like we never have time trying to keep up with the latest and greatest books for our blogs.  So, we came up with a great plan, let's start our own meme and get everyone else joining in on the re-reading fun as well!  We are, of course, still planning to keep up with current reads but we are intertwining old favorites at the same time.

Wishing for Someday SoonSeventeen year old Katelyn Richards is a stronger person than anyone will ever know, and that is just the way she wants it. Behind her normal facade lies the reality of a broken home life. Thanks to her abusive mother, a string of deadbeat stepfathers, and an unsympathetic system, Katelyn has learned that the only one she can count on is herself. Her life’s mission has become to shield her nine year old brother, Kevin, and to give him the future that they both wish for. A life with no more abuse, no worries about where their next meal will come from, and no more wondering if they will have a roof over their heads. When her mother moves them again, this time to a small town in Montana, Katelyn’s resolve is shaken when she meets Max, a cute boy from her new school, who gets a glimpse into her real world. Max slowly manages to break through Katelyn’s wall of distrust, stirring up feelings she never saw coming. Now with her world more complicated than she ever intended, Katelyn struggles with the decision to follow her heart into the arms of the first boy she has ever loved. A decision that could risk the promise she made to protect Kevin, and to give them the ‘someday soon’ that is so close within their grasp.

When we started Memory Lane Monday, this was a book I knew I wanted to read again as one of my first.  I loved this book, but like most books, I don't remember much about them other than I liked them and the main gist of the story.  This will be a great book to enjoy again.

The thing I remember most about this book is the fact that Katelyn and Kevin are in a terrible, abusive situation that they can't get out of because they are children and are afraid of getting separated if they tell anyone about their abusive mother.

The most horrible memory I have is when their pipes freeze, they end up having to go to the bathroom in the dead of winter at the gas station.  Just terrible!  I also know they never had enough to eat.

I remember Max being a wonderful boyfriend and an escape for Katelyn.  I have all kinds of happy feelings about him even though I don't remember specifics.

I am really looking forward to getting back into this great YA book!  Tell me what you are planning to read this week and if you have any books you are looking forward to reading in the near future.  Have a great week!

Here's how Memory Lane Monday works:

Each week the co-hosts will trade off with recapping when it is a re-read or what they have heard so far about the book and the other co-host will put up their review.
  • The participants can read anything that they remember reading in the past, or something that they have wanted to read that has been around for a while and just haven't gotten around to reading it yet for whatever reason.
  • Participants can decide if they want to recap the book before reading it or just put up a review of what they read.
  • Anyone can join in, just please link back to our blogs as well as add your name to the linky so we can hop around and see what everyone is reading.
  • Please put our banner on your post as well, so we all look the same!
  • We ask you kindly to follow BOTH of our blogs.
  • Most importantly remember to just have fun! :)

We will be providing each week a linky that you will be able use to link your posts for us and everyone else to see as well. All we ask is for you to put up our banner as well as a link back to both hosts on your post.

Review ~ Open Road Summer by Emery Lord

Open Road Summer
Open Road Summer
by Emery Lord
After breaking up with her bad-news boyfriend, Reagan O’Neill is ready to leave her rebellious ways behind. . . and her best friend, country superstar Lilah Montgomery, is nursing a broken heart of her own. Fortunately, Lilah’s 24-city tour is about to kick off, offering a perfect opportunity for a girls-only summer of break-up ballads and healing hearts. But when Matt Finch joins the tour as its opening act, his boy-next-door charm proves difficult for Reagan to resist, despite her vow to live a drama-free existence. This summer, Reagan and Lilah will navigate the ups and downs of fame and friendship as they come to see that giving your heart to the right person is always a risk worth taking. A fresh new voice in contemporary romance, Emery Lord’s gorgeous writing hits all the right notes.

At First Sight
From the minute I saw this book and read the synopsis I knew it was for me.  The cover is gorgeous and fits the book extremely well.  I love books with musical elements so this one definitely fit right in.

Characters & Relationships
I love the life long friendship between Reagan and Lilah.  This kind of relationship is something I think is hard to find in almost anyone's life.  I know very few people that still have the same friends they had as a child into even their early adulthood.  You could tell that they had been through a lot together which helped them deal with the different situations, whether easy or difficult that arose while they were on tour.

Matt Finch was an awesome character.  I absolutely LOVED his snark and sarcasm and how he was able to give Reagan a hard time without pushing too far.  He was an absolutely fabulous, well rounded character that any girl could swoon over.

Is This a Kissing Book?
This is a kissing book.  I enjoyed watching the relationship between Reagan and Matt develop and their kissing scenes were just hot enough for YA to keep it for what I feel is appropriate for the genre.  I love finding romance books that work for teens and adults alike and I would be happy to recommend this to pretty much any age group.

Don't Leave Me Hanging
No cliffhangers to this one.  I love stand alone novels.  For some reason they seem to be few and far between for me lately.

The Best Gems
  • On tour with your best friend for the summer
  • Snack stops for strawberry milk and twizzlers
  • Picnics
  • Music elements of all kinds
  • Hanging out with young fans of your BFF
  • Sunsets
The Sum Up
I loved Open Road Summer.  This is 100%  my kind of read.  I love it when I am reading a book with musical characters and I wish I could turn on a CD and listen to an actual soundtrack of the songs they are performing.  It makes you feel like you are right there in the book with the characters which is something not every author has the ability to do.  This book is about so many different things and has such a positive message I would recommend it to anyone.

Waiting on Wednesday ~ Rough Waters by Nikki Godwin

"Waiting on Wednesday" is a weekly event hosted by
Jill at Breaking the Spine
that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating!

Rough Waters (Drenaline Surf, #2)

Haley's future has been waiting on the west coast for the past year, but she isn't the only new face in Crescent Cove this summer. When Colby Taylor's parents locate him and interrupt his surf competition, the surf star spirals out of control, dragging Drenaline Surf's reputation through the mud and into the ground with him.
With Colby's secrets plastered across surf magazines and tabloid headlines, Haley takes on the job of playing damage control for Drenaline Surf - which isn't easy when Colby breaks everything he touches, Topher breaks the law, and Miles breaks his leg.
Instead of chasing dreams of forever, Haley spends her summer chasing the unraveling careers of the hottest new faces in the surf world, and she's about to learn what happens when forever doesn't last.

Why am I waiting?  I am so excited for this book I could scream!  Book 1 in this series, Chasing Forever Down, was my favorite book last year.  I love this character driven, beach and surf series so much that I can't wait to see what happens when Haley moves back to Crescent Cove.

Release Date for Rough Waters is June 17, 2014

What book are you waiting on this week?  Leave me your links so I can visit and see what fantastic reads you are looking forward to!

Top Ten Tuesday ~ Books About Friendship

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly event hosted by

This weeks topic:
Top Ten Books About Friendship
With this topic I felt like it was appropriate to intermix some children's books.  I love them so much and I feel like there is a lot we can learn from them.

#10 ~ Open Road Summer
by Emery Lord

This book is loaded with friendship vibes.  I loved the life long friendship between Reagan and Lilah throughout this book.

#9 ~ The Rainbow Fish
by Marcus Pfister

I love The Rainbow Fish.  It teaches so much about giving and sharing with people which are important qualities in a good friend.

#8 ~ Chasing Forever Down
By Nikki Godwin

I talk about this book a lot because it has so many amazing elements and one of them is a most unlikely friendship that develops throughout the story.  I absolutely love it and if you haven't read it yet, believe me when I say it is definitely worth your time!

#7 ~ Women's Murder Club
by James Patterson

This is a series I started when #6 came out.  I love this series because of the bond of friendship these ladies have with each other.  I look forward to reading Lucky 13 that just came out this week.

#6 ~ Frog and Toad are Friends
by Arnold Lobel

I didn't read very much as a kid, but this book I remember reading cover to cover more times than I can count.  When I think of books about friendship this one definitely makes the list!

#5 ~ The Outsiders
by S.E. Hinton

I devoured this book as a teen even though I wasn't a reader.  It still remains one of my favorites to this day.  The friendships in this book were amazingly strong and so well written.

#4 ~ Leonardo the Terrible Monster
by Mo Willems

This is the all time favorite book for Coconut!  I don't know how many times we read it to her before she could read, then she memorized it and "read it" to us, and now of course she can read it herself.  Leonardo is one of the best friendship books for children I have ever read and it had to make my list.

#3 ~ Charlotte's Web
by E.B. White

This book was a childhood favorite for me.  I love the friendship between Charlotte and Wilbur.  It is such a beautiful story.  Unlikely friendships are something I always enjoy reading about.

#2 ~ The Harry Potter Series
by J.K. Rowling

I probably don't need to go into much detail with this one.  There are more friendships in this book than you can count.  Laced throughout the entire series there are even friendships between the bad characters.  Friendship and loyalty are everywhere.

#1 ~ The Infernal Devices
by Cassandra Claire
The friendship between Will and Jem in this series is probably one of the strongest and well written I have ever come across.  This series is definitely my #1 when it comes to friendship.

That's my list for this week!  Leave me your links so I can check out your top ten books about friendship!
