Interview

1. What made you decide to be a writer?
* I had too many voices floating around in my head demanding that their stories be told.

2. What made you decide to go down the paranormal route when it comes to your books?
* I had read a children's book about five or six years ago, and in it, there was a certain paranormal band. I thought it was the coolest thing ever, so I created my own band and stuck some paranormal elements throughout my series for it. I have three future books planned which are more fantasy themed because I love fantasy books. My book Behind the Wooden Door is set more in a medieval time. So, I write all kind of crazy books. Whatever comes to me!

3. Are you working on writing anything right now?
* I've started three books in the last month. I hate choosing. I'm probably going to stick with trying to get Until We Die (Mutilated #2) out soon, though.

4. If you had to pick one band member to date from Mutilated Arteries, which one would you pick?
* Definitely either Banshee or Nightmare. I love them both, but I think I would be happier with Nightmare.

5. Is there anything else you would like to tell us??
* Make sure you pick up Nikki Godwin's books along with mine! You'll find some pretty awesome cross-overs in them!

And thank you so much for having me on your blog!

Mutilate My Heart

Goodreads | Amazon | Barnes and Noble |

Punk rock band Mutilated Arteries has been seventeen-year-old Becca's world (aka obsession) for the last year. When the band schedules a concert in her hometown, she and her best friend Carli are the first ones in line to buy tickets. The night is everything she expects it to be and more, especially after making friends with the new super-cute bassist, Sketch.

Becca's mom warns her not to fall for a rock star because rock stars are always on the road - or they die in a plane crash, like her mom's favorite band did twenty-something years ago. But after the band's tour bus breaks down and they're stuck hanging out in Roizen Hills for a week, it's hard for Becca not to fall for Sketch and his caricature drawings and toxic green eyes.

Becca knows Sketch is leaving as soon as the bus is fixed, and she can't be his fan-turned-girlfriend anyway because of the lead singer's "No Girlfriends" rule. Plus, there's something strange about the guys that Becca can't quite decipher... like how they won't reveal their real names, their always-changing odd appearances, and the guitarist's obsession with blood and zombies. Still, Becca wants nothing more than for Sketch to mutilate her heart...but it just might not be in a way she expects.

Paper and String

Goodreads | Amazon | Barnes and Noble |

It's hard to make friends in a small Minnesota town when the most entertainment around is watching the snow fall. Socially awkward Nadia Knight doesn't know how she can live up to the promise she made her brother to make friends before summer when the only people she spends time with are the dead.

Between studying mortuary sciences and going to her best friend's musical gigs, she runs into - literally, with her car - a cute punk rocker named Anthony, although his friends call him Banshee. And he might just be the friend she's been waiting to make...and more.

But Anthony has a secret more fragile than paper and string.

When an army of soldiers marches through her castle doors, Princess Lanie is plagued with thoughts of blood, death, and sorrow. War is something she never fathomed happening in her lifetime. Falling in love with the army's commander, Tristan, wasn't part of the plan either. He's smart-mouthed, arrogant, and everything her tyrant father would disapprove of. After all, Tristan's place is on the battlefield, not a throne.

After the kingdom's fortune teller predicts a deadly outcome, Lanie knows her secret romance is an execution waiting to happen. She has to do something - fast - because the war path has redirected toward her.

Top Ten Tuesday ~ Fall To-Be-Read List

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly event hosted by

This weeks topic:

Top Ten books on my fall To-Be-Read List
(I know I ended up with 11 on this list, but I figure since I'm working with series, I would cheat just a little...)

First I wanted to start out with the books that I will be doing for our Memory Lane Monday feature.  I need to start here because these books will be leading up to the rest of my list

Memory Lane Monday Reading List
Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1)Linger (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #2)Forever (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #3)
City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4)City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments, #5)

As I get through with these, I will be inserting these reads

Sinner (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #4)City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments, #6)
I'm so excited to get to both of these books.  I have been sort of saving them for fall for some reason.

The rest of my Fall TBR looks like this:

Looking for You (Oh Captain, My Captain, #1)

Because the Wild don't play every day, I need some hockey to read on the days in between!  These two ladies know how to write so I'm super excited for this next series from them!

Make it Right (Bowler University, #2)

I just read Make It Count not long ago and totally loved it!  I'm really excited to read Max and Lea's story in Make It Right!

The Fiery Heart (Bloodlines, #4)Silver Shadows (Bloodlines, #5)
I can't seem to get these books off my TBR!  They keep getting bumped and I swear they are going to make it this fall!

If I can stick to this list, it looks like a lot of series reading for me!  What are you reading this fall?  Leave me your links so I can visit your Fall TBR lists as well!

Memory Lane Monday #26 ~ Toucan Edition ~ Mutilate My Heart by Emily Godwin

Memory Lane Monday is a weekly meme that Amber at Paradise of Pages and I, Kristalyn at The Sarcastic Palmtree, came up with. We have been wanting to re-read some of our favorites but feel overwhelmed by all the other new books coming out that our re-reads get put to the side. We have decided we don't want to put them aside anymore, so we will be taking turns putting up our reviews on our blogs throughout the month. This does not mean we won't keep up with recent releases, it just means we will make more time for those we have read before as well.

Mutilate My Heart (Mutilated, #1)

You can read my memory post for Mutilate My Heart here.
At First Sight
When I first saw the cover of this book, I thought it looked really cool.

Characters and Relationships
My favorite character in this book would have to be Ink. I really like Ink because when you first see him, you might think he is all tough but if you hang out with him in a haunted theater, you will find out that he is not as tough as he seems. The relationships in this book consist of Becca and Sketch, Carli and Corpse, and Nadia and Banshee. I don't really have a favorite relationship from this book.  They are all good in their own way

Is This A Kissing Book?
I wouldn't say that this is a kissing book. There is not a whole lot of kissing so I wouldn't consider it a kissing book.

Don't Leave Me Hanging

There is a book called Paper and String that is a prequel to this book. There is also a book called Until We Die and it is supposed to come out sometime next year.
The Best Gems
  • Elijah
  • Hetrick Hall
  • Ink's Belt
  • Paintbrush in the sand
  • Toxic Green Contacts
  • Haunted Lighthouse

The Sum Up
I really enjoyed reading this book again. Whenever I reread books, I always pick up something new. I really love this book and would totally recommend it to any of my friends. Emily Godwin is such an amazing author and I cannot wait for the next book to come out next year!

Here's how Memory Lane Monday works:
  • Each week the co-hosts will trade off with recapping when it is a re-read or what they have heard so far about the book and the other co-host will put up their review.
  • The participants can read anything that they remember reading in the past, or something that they have wanted to read that has been around for a while and just haven't gotten around to reading it yet for whatever reason.
  • Participants can decide if they want to recap the book before reading it or just put up a review of what they read.
  • Anyone can join in, just please link back to our blogs as well as add your name to the linky so we can hop around and see what everyone is reading.
  • Please put our banner on your post as well, so we all look the same!
  • We ask you kindly to follow BOTH of our blogs.
  • Most importantly remember to just have fun! :)

We will be providing each week a linky that you will be able use to link your posts for us and everyone else to see as well. All we ask is for you to put up our banner as well as a link back to both hosts on your post.
